The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the world’s largest arts festival. It offers the opportunity to develop and present work to diverse audiences and to showcase to UK and international programmers.
Who can apply
Individual artists and creative professionals working in the performing arts in Wales can apply. You will have a good track record in Wales in creating, producing or staging work and are now looking to explore new connections and opportunities across the UK and internationally. You will need to demonstrate how going to Edinburgh at this point will be beneficial to your future ambitions for touring and collaboration. Take a look at our eligibility criteria for individuals to see if you are eligible. You can apply if you are working for and salaried by an organisation in receipt of Arts Council of Wales multi-year funding. You will have no or limited experience of Edinburgh Festival Fringe but can demonstrate how the opportunity will be beneficial to your professional development and to your current role.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the world’s largest arts festival. It offers the opportunity to develop and present work to diverse audiences and to showcase to UK and international programmers. It’s also an important platform and marketplace for sector engagement with the well-established UK and international networks attending the Fringe, with a view to increased connections and exploring future showcasing, collaboration and presentation opportunities. Arts Council of Wales’ Edinburgh Bursary 2026 is a funding opportunity to participate in networking and Fringe Connect events and workshops at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2026, alongside seeing high quality UK and international work. To maximise impact and value for the Edinburgh Bursary 2026 programme, Sherman Theatre will be providing advice and support to those receiving bursaries, prior to and during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2026. We will also be working with our partners Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, British Council and other UK and international partners to identify relevant networking opportunities. We anticipate making up to a maximum of 6-8 bursaries.
