The Project Post Fund is designed to encourage large-scale film and TV productions to undertake their post-production and VFX work in Scotland. It will support live-action and animated features, and live-action and animated high-end television drama or factual returnable series that demonstrate the ability to: • Boost Scotland’s economy by bringing in high-value post-production and/or VFX work to Scotland • Create inclusive employment opportunities for Scotland based crew and technicians. • Use of Scotland’s post-production facilities for services such as editing, sound, VFX, and music scoring. • Support diversified skills development and career progression in Scottish post-production sector. • Align with Screen Scotland’s broader strategic goals. This is a competitive fund, driven by economic impact and Screen Scotland’s Strategy. Alternative Formats and Languages Our published materials, including funding guidance and application forms, can be made available in other formats as required. We can accept applications and supporting materials which are written in English, Gaelic or Scots. Access Support Access support contributes to costs for services to help applicants overcome barriers to applying for our funds. We offer access support to individuals or the lead applicant of a group who self-identify as d/Deaf, hard of hearing, disabled or living with chronic illness, mental illness or neurodivergence, such as dyslexia, autism or ADHD. Eligibility Criteria Who Can Apply? The fund is designed to support post-production activity delivered by a post-production facility permanently based in Scotland. We welcome applications from: • Productions that have started or are about to start post-production. • Large-scale productions looking to secure their post-production commitments early. • Major productions already in progress with a significant post-production period, provided they outsource some of that post-production work to Scotland. Eligibility Criteria • Applicants must have an eligible screen project in an advanced stage of financing. • Projects should have either: • started principal photography, or • plan to begin within 12 weeks of a funding decision • Productions that have already started principal photography or post-production may still apply if they meet the fund criteria. However, the fund cannot cover retrospective costs and post-production work must not have been originally planned for to take place in Scotland. • You need to submit a full and complete application at least 12 weeks before your anticipated first day of post-production in Scotland. • An estimated Scottish Spend Budget must be provided, detailing the visual effects and post-production work to be carried out exclusively by Scotland-based crew only. • Projects must have a minimum estimated Scottish Spend of £25,000 to meet the criteria – see guidance in Appendix C. • Applicants must demonstrate that post production was being considered in other countries, and that the fund is helping to attract projects here. • Productions do not need to have completed any principal photography in Scotland to be eligible. • Projects not eligible for UK Tax Reliefs are still welcome to apply. • A finance plan outlining other funding sources must be included. Fund restrictions Project Post funding cannot be used in conjunction with any other Screen Scotland production funding including the Film Development and Production Fund, Broadcast Content Fund or the wider Production Growth Fund. How much you can apply for and Scottish Spend Requirements How much can I apply for? The Post Project Fund has an annual budget of £1 million. You can apply for a grant of between £5,000 and £100,000 to cover post-production costs for a project that will be completed wholly or partially in Scotland. If partially in Scotland, the funding can only be used to contribute to post-production work undertaken in Scotland. Scottish Spend Requirements To be eligible, your project must meet the minimum Scottish Spend ratio of 5:1. This means that for every £1 awarded, the production must spend at least £5 in Scotland. For example, if you are applying for £100,000, your project must have a minimum Scottish Spend of £500,000 (excluding VAT). Key fund information • The award is non-recoupable and does not need to be repaid. • It is paid retrospectively after costs are incurred. • It is compatible with the UK Film, High End TV and Animation Tax Reliefs for qualifying productions. Timescales - When to apply and decisions When can I apply? There are no deadlines for this fund and applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the budget has been fully allocated in each financial year. You need to submit a full and complete application at least 12 weeks before your anticipated first day of post-production in Scotland. How long will it take to get a decision? Decisions will take up to 12 weeks from the date we receive your application form, and all the relevant information required to make a full assessment. If you apply with less than 12 weeks before your anticipated first day of post-production in Scotland, your application may be deemed ineligible. As this fund is highly competitive, we strongly recommend speaking with Screen Scotland before applying. If you cannot access the internet to make an application, or need additional support, contact our Enquiries Service by emailing: [email protected] Essential Production Documents In addition to the application form, you must provide the following supporting materials: • A synopsis of the project • A post-production budget, including the estimated Scottish Spend • A post-production schedule • A finance plan • An Equalities, Diversity & Inclusion Plan (see guidance in Appendix B) • Estimated Scottish Spend Breakdown, including: • A fully detailed estimated Scottish Spend Budget (see guidance in Appendix C) • Quotes from the Scottish post-production facility for the work to be carried out. Applicants are also encouraged to include a plan outlining inclusive training and crew development opportunities within the production - see guidance in Appendix A.
