How to Book a DJ for Your Wedding
A simple, honest checklist for booking a wedding DJ who'll actually fill the floor.

Start with the vibe, not the playlist
Before you send anyone a 200-song list, work out the feeling you want across the day — relaxed reception, emotional first dance, full-on party later. A good DJ plans to that and adapts on the night.
Check they play open format
Weddings are multi-generational. A DJ who can move between soul, afrobeats, R&B, dancehall and house will keep grandparents and your mates on the floor at the same time.
Agree must-plays and do-not-plays
Give a short must-play list and an honest do-not-play list. Trust the DJ to fill the rest — that's the skill you're paying for.
Confirm the practical stuff
Timings, setup, venue access, power and a backup plan. A professional will ask about all of this before you do.
Tell me your date, location and the kind of night you want and I will come back to you.
