***NECESSARY ACTION: SEE SUPPORTING INFORMATION TAB FOR SPECIFIC DETAILS*** Defra is looking to award grants via the National River Walks Programme to address the Environmental Improvement Plan 2025 commitment to deliver 9 new national river walks, one in each region of England. One river walk has already been delivered in the North West region. We now welcome applications from the remaining 8 regions of England to deliver the next river walks. We are not looking for further applications from the North West. We aim to select 4 river walks to be delivered by 31st March 2028. A further competition to fund the remaining 4 walks will be arranged in the future.

Following the publication of Better Connected, the Department for Transport has launched the Integrated Transport Digital Twin (ITDT) Fund. This £30 million fund will support selected local transport authorities to develop digital twin trials that improve transport integration, network performance and resilience. The fund will enable local authority-led partnerships to test innovative, data-driven approaches, strengthen collaboration across organisational and geographical boundaries, and generate evidence and learning to inform potential future rollout

The Places of Worship Renewal Fund (PWRF) supports urgent repairs and essential improvements to listed places of worship in England. Grants ranging from £10,000 to £1,000,000 will be awarded for capital works that keep buildings safe, open and in public use. Any listed place of worship in England can apply, of any faith or denomination, provided it is an active place of worship.

UK registered organisations can apply for a share of up to £150 million to create scale up manufacturing facilities for zero emission vehicle technologies.

UK registered businesses can apply for funding for life science manufacturing capital investment projects which help increase UK health resilience.

The Life Sciences Transformational R&D Investment Fund Pilot offers capital grants to support large-scale R&D projects in the UK life sciences sector (eligible projects must exceed £100 million in total costs). It aims to boost research and development within the UK's Life Sciences sector by supporting large-scale investments focused on innovation and strengthening health resilience, as well as projects with the potential to generate economic benefits. This fund complements the separate Life Sciences Innovative Manufacturing Fund (LSIMF).

The implementation grant scheme is designed to support projects in taking a collaborative and strategic approach to water management within lowland peatland catchments. It aims to deliver the infrastructure and water management controls needed to facilitate a positive change in water management, with a primary focus on the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from lowland peat whilst enabling wider benefits such as biodiversity improvements, flood and drought mitigation and sustainable land use.

Capital Grants help farmers and land managers pay for work that benefits the environment on farms, woodlands and other rural land in England. This can include protecting habitats, restoring and creating hedgerows, planting trees, and improving air and water quality.

The 4G+ Public Sector Asset Improvement Grant Scheme helps public sector organisations upgrade or replace existing assets so they can support 4G and 5G mobile infrastructure. This can include improving lighting columns, power supplies, access, structures, or fibre and ducting. Once upgraded, assets must be made available to mobile operators on a non‑exclusive, open access basis. Grants may fund up to 100% of eligible capital costs. However, grant payments are made in arrears. Applicants must therefore be able to cashflow project delivery and provide evidence of financial capacity to do so.

The Heritage Revival Fund will help communities across England rescue and repurpose neglected historic buildings. It will do this by supporting community organisations to take ownership of, adapt and reuse the local heritage assets that matter to them, transforming them into thriving spaces that meet their needs. This programme is being delivered by the Architectural Heritage Fund in partnership with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and Historic England, and forms part of the government’s wider £1.5 billion investment in arts and culture.
